DOG RACING, Wednesday 10.07

Today, we've been to Shelbourne Park Greyhound stadium, one of the most important and famous dog racing tracks in Ireland.
Gates opened at 6.30pm but we arrived approximately at 8.15pm in train. Located in the heart of Ringsend just 4 minutes from the city centre, it is an ideal location to get easily from any part of Dublin.

Shelbourne Park Greyhound stadium has 11 action packed races three nights per week. With top class racing and catering provided by Dobbins, we you can have the night out with a difference, with catering packages from just €9.99 and a full 400 seated restaurant with 7 private suites available for hire.

It is home to the World’s Richest Greyhound Race, The Paddy Power Derby where the final takes place each year during September where crowds gather from around the world.

If you are new to the sport, come and see these majestic animals in full flight as they negotiate the race track. Have a bet and a bite to eat and perhaps you may come out with more money than you arrived with! Whether you choose colour, names or simply numbers, everyone has their own method to achieve that winning combination.

Some of the members of the Spanish group were so lucky, like Diego, Carlos and Alvaro, who finished the day with some extra money. Another one was Ruben, who wasn't as lucky as the others although he found 30 euros lying on the floor.

To sum up, I would like to say I’m grateful to all the teachers that made this visit to the dog racing possible. We really had a good time and it was a really good new experience.
