Week Two

As usual classes begin from 9:30 to 11:00 then we have a break of fifteen minutes after that we have a second class with a different teacher and we finish at 12:45.

After having lunch we had to do some sports, the first one being tango. The class was taught by two teachers. For dancing a tango, it is necessary to have a partner (the leader and the follower).  We learned the basics and almost everyone left the class knowing how to properly dance tango. When we finished the tango class, we had the possibility to choose between football or volleyball, both quite entertaining (after a few matches we also could go to yoga if we wanted to).

At quarter past four, we went to our houses to have dinner. At approximately seven, we had to meet up with the group at the park to do the presentations. The first group (Paula, Inés, Paloma and Celia) talked about famous monuments from Toledo and Ireland. The second group ( Cristina, Laura and Nazaret ) talked about some Irish legends. The third group (Andrés and Alex) taught us the rules and some of the history of hurling. And last, but not least, the fourth group (Daniela, Mario, Jorge and me) talked about Gaelic football and handball. After the projects we could stay there and have a nice time in the enormous park but at half past nine we had to return to the houses.

As planned after finishing classes instead of eating we took the train to Howth where we would go on the Cruise.  On the boat, there was a voice that explained and signaled everything. We were given an hour of free time after the cruise finished. There were still people that had to present the project so at half past four, the first group of the day (Guillermo and Alex) had to begin their presentation. They explained a bit of the different typical Irish food. María, Amor and Jimena's group was the second one to present, they talked about famous celebrities (U2, Pierce Brosnan and Conor Mc Gregor). The third group (Enrique, Manuel and Jesús ) spoke about a famous musical band (The Cranberries). The fourth group (Andrea, Lucía, Livia and Marcos) explained some types of art (Irish dance, music and films). And the last group (Pablo and Diego) talked about some famous monuments like “The Cliffs of Moher” or “ The Spire”. After all the presentations, we ate fish and chips and went home.

After eating in our classroom, we were divided in two groups. One made bracelets while the others were playing basketball. When the first group finished the bracelets activity they went to do yoga with two “staff” girls.  While the other groups made bracelets. Later, we had the possibility to go to the park or stay at home and watch the Croatia and England match.

After eating, we took the bus to Howth (we went on two different buses because there wasn’t enough space for everyone) when we arrived we took a walk near the cliffs so we could see the deep blue/grey sea. The path was rocky and long but we had amazing views! At quarter past four, everyone returned to their houses to have dinner and having a host family afternoon (having a conversation with them), until we went to the disco from seven to ten.

After eating, we took the dart and went to Dublinia (a museum). The first floor was about the Vikings and their history, the second was about the Middle Ages and its history and the third floor was about archaeology. We had to see the museum in two different groups because we couldn’t go in with a big amount of people. After the visit, we all went to our respective houses.

We met at 11:30 at the SuperValu in Killester and from there we went to Malahide. As soon as we arrived, we visited Malahide Castle that was opened to the public in 1977. We saw some rooms of the castle and a woman explained everything about them to usWe had lunch when we finished the visit and after that at 15:30 we went to the water activities. We did three different activities: Kayak it was exciting and good fun. Then we did sailing, it was nice and the weather helped a lot. The last activity was paddle surf my personal favorite!

We met at 11:00 at the entrance of the park near school and from there we went to the center of Dublin. We were given almost the whole day as free time or shopping until 16:30, that’s the time we returned home. We arrived just on time to watch the second half of the Croatia- France World Cup Final.
